                    Sr Electronics Validation Engineer

 

 

ROLE

 

STA Technologies develops unique anti-counterfeiting solutions for product and document security applications.  As part of these solutions, we create security features along with sensors to detect and authenticate these features. Our portfolio of sensors includes quality control tools, customer-facing measurement tools, and high-speed sensors in an industrial in-line environment. 

 

As a Senior Electronics Validation Engineer, you will work with our Design Engineering, Manufacturing personnel, Customer Technical Services personnel, customer representatives and supplier partners to assure that the STA sensors are robust, and they perform to stringent customer requirements in the field. You will be responsible for collecting, evaluating, reporting, and communicating test data to validate that system designs and manufacturing processes lead to a reliable and robust sensor.

The successful candidate for Senior Electronics Validation Engineer will be a versatile and motivated electronics engineer who will contribute to a variety of projects across the development spectrum from basic research to mature manufacturing. This person will be expected to work on multiple simultaneous projects requiring interaction with interdisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists, as well as with external customers and collaborators.

 

You will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Support Design Engineering, Manufacturing and Customer Technical Services in the design, development, and execution of testing to prove out component and system functionality and reliability
  • Support Design Engineering with Design Verification and Validation planning and execution to support qualification of new products and product changes, to address technical risks and to perform cross-functional investigation and resolution activities.
  • Support Manufacturing in the qualification of improvements to production materials and methods by designing and executing test activities.
  • Support Customer Technical Services by planning and participating in Verification and Validation tests in the field.
  • Lead the qualification, testing and failure analysis of sensor components, subassemblies, and complete sensors.
  • Perform hands-on testing and analysis activities to troubleshoot Process and Manufacturing issues related to non-conforming production materials and propose detailed action plans to improve processes and/or components to increase manufacturing efficiency, quality, yield, cost, and/or product performance.
  • Prepare technical and progress reports in support of these activities such as test and analysis plans, test result reports, product change proposals and change verification test results.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and interact effectively with all levels within the organization. Ability to influence without formal authority.

 

PROFILE

 

  • Experience developing test methods, performing validation tests, analyzing, and reporting data.
  • Detailed understanding of the equipment applicable to electronics testing and validation activities.
  • Understanding of laser safety and test methods.
  • Knowledge of the application of statistics to electronics verification and validation activities, obtained through course work, experience or both.
  • Strong skills in hands-on troubleshooting, debugging, and data analysis.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of physics and material science.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Understanding of the full product lifecycle.
  • Experience evaluating product and project risks, using risk assessment tools such as FMEA.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems. Recognize problems and address them at the earliest possible time. Gather facts, propose solutions, gather input, communicate, and document appropriately. Learn from problems to identify preventative measures and improvements.
  • Organizational skills to establish project roadmap in area of responsibility, maintain focus, track, and report progress, and escalate promptly to address issues. Role will provide opportunity to develop skills to lead a team, ensure clear understanding of project goals, and use formal project management tools and methodologies.
  • Displays sense of ownership and accountability for their assigned work and organizational success. Maintains high standard of quality in spite of issues and schedule pressures. Strives to do it right the first time and takes ownership for their mistakes. Balances urgent issues with long term goals. Ability to communicate effectively and adapt communication approach. Communicates project needs, challenges, decisions, and proposed solutions with clarity at the technical detail level appropriate for the audience. Ability to explain the reasoning behind their opinions, ask and answer questions effectively and tactfully, and listen effectively to the input of others.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with over 5 years’ experience in developing, manufacturing and/or validation of electronic products.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and hold a US Government Security Clearance required.
  • Must be able to support occasional domestic and international business travel.
