To strengthen our Engineering team, we are looking for a




                                                                                       PROCESS ENGINEER









  • This position will report to the Engineering Manager at STA Technologies in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.  Provide technical support and drive continuous improvements in manufacturing process capability, industrialize new processes, optimize capacity, maintenance and productivity of equipment, and ensure process safety and equipment compliance. Implement capital and expense projects within scope, cost, time and safety standards.









  • Identify, make recommendations and implement improvements in process performance to optimize product volume, yields and quality in accordance with business needs, while minimizing operating costs and maximizing unit safety and reliability. 
  • Gather and evaluate appropriate data, utilizing statistical techniques, to improve process capability and/or identify root causes of problems, and implement improvement opportunities
  • Provide prompt and effective technical advice and support to resolve unusual problems using root cause analysis.
  • Develop plant-wide Standard Operating Procedures for process and equipment operation.
  • Provide training as required to manufacturing personnel in relevant manufacturing processes.
  • Support and implement new product and process runs and prepare relevant documentation (i.e. Risk Assessments, MOC). 
  • Develop and implement equipment, procedure and process changes including the design and implementation of improvement projects, and participation in Hazard Operability Studies. 
  • Assist in the design, procurement, and installation of new equipment to support new product development and commercialization and existing process improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and modify Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and programming software to meet changing needs of processes and implement continuous improvement efforts.
  • Implement Predictive Maintenance Programs to monitor and record the condition of the plant and equipment to maximize plant safety and reliability and reduce downtime in accordance with agreed performance targets.
  • Understanding of chemical process equipment including safety and environmental aspects.
  • Ability to gain a working knowledge of batch manufacturing, liquid conveyance processing equipment, aerosol systems, powder handling and membrane separations.
  • Is familiar with and committed to the effective use of standardized safety practices (PSM, LTT, FMEA, etc.).
  • Potential and desire to understand the design and operation of electrical control systems and software to develop existing and new process control systems, motor controls and hardwired control systems.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD, Visio, and/or Solid Works design software.
  • Knowledge of general chemistry, specific process chemistries and the impact of process variables on product.
  • Familiar with statistical design methodologies such as 6 Sigma or Lean Management is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required.

  • Minimum Bachelor/University degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Preferably Chemical Engineering).
