Provide technical support and drive continuous improvements in manufacturing process capability, capacity and productivity at the site(s) to ensure safe and optimal process utilization.  Use best practice machinery care principles, develop and implement world-class equipment care procedures and process changes to maximize plant safety and reliability.  Implement capital and expense projects within scope, cost, time and safety standards. This position requires travel time of up to 25%.



  • Identify, make recommendations and implement improvements in plant performance to optimize product volume, yields and quality in accordance with business needs, whilst minimizing operating costs and maximizing unit safety and reliability.  Gather and evaluate appropriate data, utilizing statistical techniques, to improve process capability and/or identify root causes of problems. Influence the organization to pursue the identified improvements. Provide technical expertise and project management as appropriate to execute quality implementation.
  • Solve problems by applying a structured problem solving approach which leads to understanding and resolution of the root cause. Provide technical expertise, solicit technical expertise from others on the site, within the company and/or outside the company as necessary. Lead the problem-solving activity when appropriate and provide timely and appropriate communication to affected personnel.
  • Develop plant-wide Standard Operating Procedures for process and equipment operation.
  • Design and implementation of new processes from concept to commercial scale including process engineering of unit operations, control strategy/function, safety, operation, maintenance, continuous improvement, quality, and documentation aspects.
  • Provide training as required to manufacturing personnel in relevant manufacturing processes. Provide training, guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Manage external contractors in accordance with all site regulations and standards.
  • Support and implement new product and process runs and prepare relevant documentation (i.e. LabRat/MOC).  Develop and implement equipment, procedure and process changes including the design and implementation of improvement projects, and participation in Hazard Operability Studies.  Assume responsibility for the design, procurement, and installation of new equipment to support new product development and commercialization and existing process improvements.
  • Ensure all product and process changes are implemented in line with appropriate Management of Change principles.
  • Communicate regularly with regional and global counterparts to facilitate continuous improvement and ongoing organizational learning.
  • Implement Predictive Maintenance Programs to monitor and record the condition of the plant and equipment to maximize plant safety and reliability and reduce downtime in accordance with agreed performance targets.

  • Minimum five years experience in an appropriate manufacturing environment.
