IT SERVICE ENGINEER – APPLICATIONS SUPPORT

 


The role of the Application Support Engineer is the support of applications and systems used within company´s solutions. This role provides post implementation support including monitoring application performance. This involves solving technical problems and providing technical consultation to other teams in the company for troubleshooting existing systems. This role requires knowledge of incident, problem, change and release management lifecycle using best practices and company standards.


 ROLE: 

 

•    To manage the Help Desk to include attending to complaints received on telephone and initiation of necessary corrective actions.
•    To provide technical support for all projects in terms of their installation and usage. These would include, industrial devices, applications and machines, SMS based systems and websites.
•    To provide assistance in maintenance and installation of software applications including, websites, SMS Applications, Industrial devices applications, reports generation, machine’s software application.
•    To provide technical support including support Internet connections, servers, switches, firewalls and all other equipment installed.
•    To check periodically backup restoration.
•    In case of any issue and liaison with L2 and L3 supports for issue resolution on immediate basis.
•    To provide end-user training for the operation of system.
•    Diagnose and resolve system, application and data issues.
•    Maintain applications in high-availability and production environments.
•    Diagnose and resolve system, application and data issues.
•    Troubleshoot performance issues.
•    Manage application servers.
•    Respond to requests of development team.
•    Anticipate & introduce new servicing tools to monitor & troubleshoot applications.
•    Provide assistance to field technicians. Answer technical queries.

 

PROFILE:


•    B.SC degree in Engineering or equivalent degree in a technical discipline related to IT. Vocational training will be considered.
•    At least 5 years of postgraduate experience.
•    Experience with multi-national teams shall be preferred, where partition of tasks may spread across several geographical entities.
•    Good knowledge: Windows, Linux, Java/J2EE, JBoss, SPLUNK, Oracle and SQL
•    Experience with virtualization technology (VMware), MS-Office, Anti-Virus and VPN management.
•    Active Directory, LDAP, User and administrator access and administration.
•    Ability to communicate and interact effectively on technical subject matter with non-specialists.
•    Good communication skills (English and Urdu both).


ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE WOULD BE A PLUS: 


•    Operate solutions and systems using industry standard tools (Puppet, Nagios, Splunk)
