To strengthen our QA team, we are looking for a
Sr. Lab and QA Manager
ROLE
The Sr. Lab and QA Manager, will oversee all aspects of running the labs and quality assurance, ensuring compliance, developing, and implementing quality systems, training staff, and leading internal and external audits to maintain high standards. The Technical laboratory consists of scientists and technicians working on Liquid and Paste ink formulations, as well as our QC tests. Although the work and personnel for both the Liquid and Paste inks report to other managers, this position will involve the general safety, organization, and management of the laboratory space. The QC team will report to this manager.
This position involves the management of technical and administrative portions of the QC&A and contributes to SCPA’s technical knowledge base and will possibly require the development of new QC methods and tests. This position also involves incorporating customer feedback to capture and incorporate QC improvements to the QC process and our products. In addition, this position will directly work with other functions to improve the overall quality of our products.
PROFILE
Leadership and Management:
• Management of the lab, including general safety practices and organization.
• Direct and manage the QA lab teams (in VA and TX), including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
• Develop and implement QA policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., ISO, EH&S).
• Represent the QA lab in internal and external communications.
Quality Assurance and Control:
• Help develop and maintain a robust quality management system (working with our QMS manager).
• Help conduct internal and external audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Oversee the development, validation, and maintenance of testing equipment, methods and procedures.
• Help investigate and resolve quality issues and deviations.
• Ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Training and Development:
• Provide training to laboratory staff on quality assurance principles and procedures.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest industry standards and best practices (e.g., safety, statistical methods approach to quality, gauge R&R techniques, Six Sigma approaches)
• Promote a culture of safety and quality and continuous improvement.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of QC&A activities.
• Prepare reports and presentations on QC&A performance and findings.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Budget and Resource Management:
• Develop and manage the QA lab budget.
• Ensure efficient utilization of resources, including personnel, equipment, and supplies.
Skills and Qualifications:
o Strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
o Extensive knowledge of quality assurance principles, practices, and regulations.
o Experience in developing and implementing quality management systems (e.g., ISO 90001.
o Experience in conducting internal and external audits.
o Proficiency in using quality assurance software and tools.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Six Sigma Certified
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Attention to detail a must with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of SAP, Power BI, JMP a plus.
